Mentoring and coaching

Having a mentor is something every leader benefits from, whether they're at the beginning of their journey into leadership, or they've been doing it for many years. The value in having somebody on hand that you trust, to talk to when you need it, is hard to quantify. Whether you're planning for the future and want to consider all the options, when facing a challenge you haven't faced before, or when thrown an expected curve ball, we all have times when some outside help is invaluable.

For people walking their first steps into leadership, it is quickly apparent that the skills which made them successful aren't sufficient to succeed at the next stage. From people management to hiring, engineering priorities to a pragmatic business focused approach, there are any number of new challenges to tackle and skills to learn if your tech leadership is going to provide lasting business value.

Through weekly coaching sessions I will guide and support you through the challenges you face, and help you to develop the skills you need to step into the role.

When a key resource leaves a company, it's often difficult to hire a replacement. With an ever decreasing pool of experienced executives, and the inherant risk of hiring an inexperienced engineer, bringing an interim CTO onto the team for 3-6 months to ease the transition, or even to help recruit a replacement, is an increasingly popular approach to the problem.
